robert schumann PROJECT
Polina’s deep love for the music of Robert Schumann was what originally inspired her to approach soprano Kimberley Lynch about collaborating on a recording project featuring works for solo piano and art song. Together, they recorded two pieces at the Chapelle Historique du Bon Pasteur in 2018 with funding from Montreal’s Jeunes Volontaires program. The recording was released in both video and audio format and was featured on Radio Classique’s La Plage Musicale program.
Repertoire selections include Schumann’s Op. 15 Kinderszenen, a set of 13 pieces for solo piano inspired by poignant childhood episodes, as well as the iconic Op. 42 Frauen-Liebe und Leben song cycle, taking the listener on a woman’s journey through life, love, and death.
